Dear Ex

Image
This isn't a show or series but it will be the only movie I'll recommend on my blog. Summary: A teenager, Song Cheng-xi, becomes trapped in the middle of a bitter feud between his mother and a free-spirited man, who is both the lover and insurance beneficiary of Song's recently deceased father. ( Wikipedia ) Review: Dear Ex is an amazing Taiwanese movie that leaves the audience discussing multiple topics regarding sexuality, acceptance, and relationships. This movie was such a tear-jerker, and I would definitely watch it again! As Cheng-xi reaches his limits from living with his overbearing mother, he is curious to understand his dad's secret lover, Jay. Cheng-xi temporarily lives with Jay to catch a break from his mom. While staying there, he comes to understand the feelings of his father and his reason for leaving his family. *Spoiler alert* His dad was in the closet, and before his passing, Cheng-xi's dad wanted to live his last few months being true to himse

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Image
Summary:  "The story tells of a young au pair hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care. Arriving at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises."( Wikipedia ) Review:  The Haunting of Bly Manor is a TV show that contains genres of romance, drama, supernatural, and horror. As a horror fan, this show was not really frightening to watch unless you're afraid of jumpscares. Overall, as you watch, you get sucked into the love affairs that happen in the Bly Manor. The twists in the show are unexpected as you uncover the secrets within the manor! I won't lie when I say I watched this show after I discovered a lesbian couple was in it. The relationship portrayed between Dani and Jamie was so wholesome, and I was so sad about their ending. Another couple I was rooting for was Hannah and Owen. Although they were never in a relationship with each other, the interactions be

Queer Eye

Image
Happy P r i d e Month! As a part of the L G B T Q + community, I would like to share the shows I enjoyed with queer representation. :) This week, I'll be starting off with Queer Eye (2018 TV series). This Netflix series is a reboot of Bravo's 2003 Queer Eye. From left to right: Bobby, Karamo, Antoni, Jonathan, and Tan. Summary: Meet the new Fab Five: Antoni Porowski, food and wine expert; Tan France, fashion expert; Karamo Brown, culture expert; Bobby Berk, design expert; and Jonathan Van Ness, grooming expert. ( Wikipedia ) Each episode features a team of gay professionals in the fields of fashion, personal grooming, interior design, entertaining and culture collectively known as the "Fab Five" performing a makeover (in the parlance of the show, a "make-better"), usually for a heterosexual (straight) man: revamping wardrobe, redecorating, and offering advice on grooming, lifestyle, and food. ( Wikipedia ) Review:  Queer Eye is a wonderful show with a

The Queen's Gambit

Image
Summary: " The Queen's Gambit follows the life of an orphan chess prodigy, Elizabeth Harmon. During her quest to become the world's greatest chess player she struggles with emotional problems, drugs and alcohol dependency. The story begins in the mid-1950s and proceeds into the 1960s." ( Wikipedia ) Review: When a friend of mine recommended this mini TV series to me, I didn't know what I was getting into. I don't know anything about chess, but giving this show a chance was not a disappointment. The Queen's Gambit was fascinating to watch as you see Beth Harmon use her genius abilities to outsmart the national and state champion chess players. As you see Beth quickly rise to the top in her success, you also notice how her life slowly spirals out of control with her constant dependency on tranquilizer pills and alcohol. Although the ending was predictable, the development of Beth's character going through the high and low points of her life kept me enga

Vincenzo

Image
Hello hello!  If you're a fan of comedy, action, and unexpected turns of events then you'll love to watch Vincenzo. This South Korean drama series has a well-written storyline that was executed with an amazing cast. I was invested in the show by the end of the first episode and it was hard to resist clicking the "next episode" button each time. These episodes aren't short and I watched them in several parts but that didn't stop me from enjoying the series. One episode is about 1 hour 30 minutes long so it's like you're watching a movie every time. Anyway, on to the summary.   Vincenzo standing in front of the Geumga Plaza. Summary: Vincenzo Cassano is a former Italian lawyer and consigliere for the Cassano mafia family. After the death of his adoptive father and head of the Cassano family, Don Fabio, Vincenzo leaves Italy and returns to Seoul. He is set on retrieving the secretly stashed 1.5 tons of gold (over $46.5 million U.S. dollars) he helped hid

Hey guys, welcome to my review on Demon Slayer !    Here's some info about the story and characters before I jump into things. Premise: " Tanjiro Kamado is a kind-hearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family in the mountains. He has become his family's sole source of income after the passing of his father. Everything changes when he comes home one day to discover that his family has been attacked and slaughtered by a demon. Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident, with Nezuko being transformed into a demon, but still surprisingly showing signs of human emotion and thought. After an encounter with Giyū Tomioka, a demon slayer, Tanjiro is recruited by him and sent to be taught by Sakonji Urokodaki, another member of the Demon Slayer Corps, to also become a demon slayer, and begins his quest to help his sister turn human again and avenge the deaths of the rest of his family. Entry #1

Image
Hello everyone, welcome to my blog! I go by Hannah but some of my close friends and family have given me the nickname "banana." As a child I was never really allowed to go outside so I grew up with a T.V. always around me. Watching all sorts of shows and movies was basically my whole childhood. I can always count on watching an interesting show to keep me from boredom. Hopefully I can recommend some good shows that can leave a lasting impression after you watch it.  Here is a sneak preview to a show I will be reviewing next week. It's an anime called "Demon Slayer."
